A Fun Day

By Sandra Ríos

To spend a great day learning more about San Miguel, we suggest starting out with breakfast at Café Aurora, where you can order their famous paninis and aromatic coffee. Then you can visit the galleries and shops, when you can find diversity of art and unusual items to purchase. If you are inspired, you can also take classes from the artists in the galleries.

After your tour of art, we are ready to visit the archaeological site Cañada de la Virgen to visit its pyramids. This area was once an important social center linked with the political system of the Toltecs. Its axis of symmetry is directed to the rising and setting of the sun and moon, and its design indicates cosmic cycles governing farming, hunting, and gathering.

On your return, we suggest heading for La Azotea near the Parroquia, a place with a great view where you can enjoy a beautiful sunset with a cocktail, delicious jicama tacos, and breaded shrimp for dinner. Listen to excellent music here, too.
