“A Musical Thursday,” Enjoy the Music of Handel, Puccini, Lloyd Webber and More

If you enjoy listening to songs and arias for soprano and tenor you’ll want to take advantage of this special opportunity to hear works of various composers sung by two local professional singers; Xavier Hernández, tenor, and Liz García Luna, soprano, accompanied by pianist Enrique Prado.

Xavier is the director of “Ensamble San Miguel” and of the community Adult Choir San Miguel Vivo. He wil perform arias including Puccini’s “E lucevan le stelle” and Handel’s “Every Valley,” as well as songs such as “La Danza” by Rossini and “María” by Leonard Bernstein.

Liz has sung professionally in stage musicals in Mexico City and is a member of the Chamber Choir San Miguel Vivo. She will delight us with Handel’s “Lascia chio pianga,” “In Trutina” by Carl Orff, and along with songs such as “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from Phantom of the Opera and “Empty Chairs” from Les Miserables.

Enrique Prado is a well known pianist in San Miguel. He has a strong and varied background that enables him to play most musical genres.

This concert is the first of three benefit concerts organized by the Civil Association San Miguel Vivo, which is dedicated to promoting choral singing and musical education in our city. Part of the proceeds will support the association’s ongoing community projects.

In addition, a portion of the proceeds from this concert will benefit the new Educational Project “Gaia,” based on the Waldorf principles of education. Gaia began this school year for students aged 9 and 10.

The concert date is Thursday, October 30 at 7pm at St. Paul’s Church. Tickets are 150 pesos and, for children under 12, only 50 pesos.
