They Love to Watch Her Strut…
By Gregory R. Gunter
San Miguel boys remember Bob Seger’s lyrics “…they do respect her but, they love to watch her strut…” and for such fans, September was the month for fashionistas to strut their stuff down the starlit runways when two major fashion shows served as fundraisers for style lovers. At the Z Club, Darla Nordstrom outfitted her lithe and lively models… among them, 15-year-fashion-show veteran Kelly-Jo Purdy… to raise funds for the SPA.
Later, Mujeres en Cambio packed Casa de la Noche’s new public events space to showcase three local fashion designers, with models posing as masked Kubrick-esque EyesWide Shut sirens to Mayan copal-bearing goddesses. And Hotel Matilda hosted an over-sold crowd, including Mayor Trejo, for Lety Fernández’s Cruz Roja fundraiser, where mother-daughter fashionistas Lilia and Iliana lit the stage. As Mr. Seger says of our strutters, “…she’s a lady through and through!”
