A day with nature

By Sandra Ríos

Before an energetic walk through San Miguel, we suggest taking breakfast at Cumpanio.

It has an excellent bakery, and behind its counter you will see how they make bread every day. You can accompany some of it with a delicious coffee. The atmosphere is quiet. There is lounge music, and the decoration is very appropriate to the place.

After your breakfast, get in contact with nature at Sanctuary Cañada de la Virgen, an ecological reserve where you can ride horseback and enjoy the sub-tropical microclimate of the canyons, the Río de la Virgen, and panoramic views of the plateaus. The rides are guided by trained professionals and are perfectly safe for beginners and children over 10 years. In the afternoon when you finish your walk, you can have a meal in front of the pyramids.

Reservations: Orizaba 2 Col. San Antonio. Tel. 154 8771

On your return to San Miguel, we recommend dining at The Restaurant. Try its delicious fusilli with vegetables, nuts, goat cheese, roasted garlic, and tomato-fennel. Be sure to ask for its extensive selection of wines to pair with your food.

Later, for a drink and to listen to good music we recommend Patio Tres, place with a relaxed atmosphere. It has two areas, the outer one surrounded by plants, and another inside with comfortable armchairs or at the bar, where you will be assisted by a friendly bartender. Ask for its famous martinis.
