Democrats Abroad to Hold Senate Fundraiser

By Bruce Rossley

Now that San Miguel Democrats Abroad is approaching the end of our nonpartisan voter assistance program for voter registration and absentee ballots, the organization is shifting its efforts to support Democratic Senate candidates who face serious election threats from ultra-conservative Republican opponents.

Help Keep a Democratic Senate
Wed, Oct 1, 10:30am
Los Milagros Restaurant
Reloj 16
90 pesos
Breakfast free upon
writing a US$25 check

A fundraising breakfast entitled “Help Keep a Democratic Senate” will be held at Los Milagros Restaurant, Reloj 16, on Wednesday, October 1, at 10:30am. For those who write a check for at least US$25 to a Democratic candidate, the lavish breakfast will be free. For all others there will be a 90 peso charge for the event. We cannot accept campaign contributions in cash or by credit card, so bring your checkbook! Everyone is welcome!

While we support all Democratic candidates, San Miguel Democrats Abroad is putting our efforts into the Senate campaigns of Senator Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Senator Kay Hagen of North Carolina, Senator Mark Begich of Alaska, and Michelle Nunn of Georgia.

At the “Help Keep a Democratic Senate” breakfast, surrogate speakers will make a brief presentation on each of the four candidates, a two-minute video on each of the candidates will follow, and checks payable to the candidates’ campaign committees will be collected. Democrats Abroad will then forward the campaign contribution checks to the candidates’ campaign finance committees. This is a difficult election year, but with your help, San Miguel can make a difference.
