According to the creators, Isis Rodriguez and Alfi López, “We want to create an alternative form of reading to youth, that represents their issues, like how to solve conflicts and what are their dreams?”

The comic’s main character is a pre-Hispanic princess, who is resurrected into a black and white modern world and whose destiny is to bring color into people’s lives. The comic starts out black and white and stars 10 characters who are all searching for their dreams. As each one takes a step toward their dreams, Niñají uses her special magic to make them colorful.

Alfi, a writer of Zapotec blood, says “It’s important that indigenous values are practiced and promoted. As a country they are our most important legacy.”

Niñají will be at The Pulga, Salón los Pinos, Salida Real a Querétaro 145 on Sunday, September 21, at noon. Entrance is free.
