Bendita Showroom Birthday Bash!

By Jade Arroyo

Bendita showroom is one of the trendiest stores in town, featuring the work of young Mexican designers. It is always looking to innovate and  offer interesting concepts to the public by launching new designers, having fashion shows, and providing arts and crafts workshops. One year has passed since the opening, and you’re invited to celebrate Mexican talent and design. Mark the date: September 13.

First Anniversary Celebration
Bendita showroom
Sat, Sep 13, 6-9pm
Hernández Macías 56A
(between Mesones and Insurgentes)
free entrance

Honoring its name, Bendita (in Spanish “blessed”) wants to give thanks to everyone who has believed in this project and is throwing a fun anniversary party to show it. The celebrating will start with a raffle of gifts by Bendita’s featured designers; in the style of a traditional Mexican fair, each person will have a chance to throw a dart at a balloon which will reveal the prize.

Joining the celebration, some fun artists and entertainers are jumping in, displaying their talents and delivering a really interesting soirée of music, dancing, live performances, art, visuals, and a tasty Mexican cocktail, among other surprises.

Bendita would like to thank all the people involved in the anniversary celebrations: its wonderful sponsors Marco and Fausto Baustista of Mojigangas San Miguel, a local workshop of hand-made mojigangas (colorful giant papier maché puppets), which have all the charm of San Miguel tradition and the twist of a young artist’s point of view; the marching band Guardias de Honor founded by Germán Robles Sánchez (barman at La Cucaracha bar) and composed entirely of sanmiguelenses; the circus art performer Fer Salas who will be doing a vibrant live show with hula-hoop, ropes, and more, and the lovely and charismatic singer and actress Gina Acosta. For your visual delight, the local nonprofit cultural organization La Expendeduría is donating a visual art  screening and the live DJ Benjamin P or Soul-Om has a sound that mixes Mexican folklore with world music. To pump up the good mood come to taste the absolutely delicious drinks by Mezcalite, a brand with the perfect mix of artisanal mezcal and organic fruits. This day will also be of launching and welcoming the showroom new designers Lydia Lavín, Cachito Mío, 1234’s and Lorenzo Lorenzo. Don’t miss the chance to see their work and support Mexican fashion and design!
