Danzón: Sixth Anniversary in the Jardín
By Leonardo Rosen
I’ve written enough about our struggles to keep bringing you “El Danzón y Otros Ritmos Bailables con el Club de Danzón Mercerina,” so I won’t go into that now. It is enough to say that we have survived for six years and look forward to more.
6th anniversary of “El Danzón y Otros Ritmos Bailables”
Sun, Sep 7, 6-9pm
Our mission is to present the best Latin dance music, from the past to the present, from danzón to salsa. People can dance or just watch the show. We do this as unpaid volunteers. Why? Because we believe that the Jardín Principal of San Miguel should be a vibrant space for the presentation of high-quality cultural entertainment with no admission fee. However, we do hope that you will contribute a smile!
Thus, we invite all of our friends to the celebration of the Sixth Anniversary of “El Danzón y Otros Ritmos Bailables con el Club de Danzón Mercerina.” We will have public dancing, exhibitions by distinguished dancers, the presentation of reconocimientos and the live presentation of La Marimba “Tono 13.” You, San Miguel veterans, know what to expect. We always welcome visitors from all over Mexico and from all over the world. To our beautiful and faithful public, we cannot thank you enough for your support through six years.
We are grateful to Acasio Martínez, head of the Education and Culture department y José Luis Chagoyan, local Alderman, for all of their support. We thank María José Garrido, head of Tourism and Economic Development department for her visto bueno. Finally, we thank Mayor Mauricio Trejo, and all of the city government.
All of this takes place on Sunday, September 7, at the Jardín Principal of San Miguel de Allende, one show 6-9pm, free admission.
