By Jade Arroyo
The Bazaar of Art and Alternative Design is having its last show of the season, saying goodbye to summer and hello to the members of the public who haven’t yet discovered this outlet of independent Mexican design.
Fifth Bazaar of Art and Alternative Design
Sat, Aug 16, and Sun, Aug 17, 10am-6pm
Ancha de San Antonio 28
Continuing with the idea of direct to the customer sale, this bazaar seeks to provide a platform for independent artists and designers in Mexico. If you haven’t seen the newest innovations in fashion, footwear, accessories, objects d’art, editions, illustration, prints, jewelry, décor, and organic and gourmet products, we invite you to visit this weekend.
The Bazaar of Art and Alternative Design is the first event in town specifically focused on independent design and handmade products made in Mexico. It also serves to empower the emerging artisans and entrepreneurs.
Being faithful to the philosophy of originality and coolness for each event, the fifth edition brings new ideas and new faces, showcasing fun and innovative proposals, such as Ying Yang’s unique pieces of artistic bookbinding; original illustrations printed on home accessories like pillows by Acentos; the exotic jewelry of Carlos Piedra; Dana Belmonte’s trendy clothing; Lamparófonos lamps made with recycled phones; vintage décor and furniture by Rosa Salvaje; lighting using living plants by Iluminante; Hoja de Papel origami accessories; bold designs based on Huichol art by This Is Ink; lavender plush toys, pillows and marmalade by Lavanda; beauty care by Organico Botanico; ecologic personal care by Ecopolis; healthy bakery for dogs by Barkery (earnings are partially donated to shelters); delicious gourmet food by Río Turquesa; and many other imaginative designers!
