Chamber Music in San Miguel

Calder String Quartet

From July 31 through August 23, San Miguel will showcase the best chamber music in the world with the participation of a trio, quartets and ensembles at Teatro Ángela Peralta. Today, August 8, Morgan Szymanski and Sophie Alexander-Katz will present a free event at 7pm, in which Katz will recite European and Latin American poetry, accompanied by Szymanski on guitar. The Gryphon Trio, winner of a Juno Award in 2011,will offer two concerts: on Saturday August 9, at 7pm and on Sunday, August 10, at 5pm. On Friday August 15, and Saturday, August 16, at 7pm, the Calder Quartet, which has earned a reputation as an important influence on contemporary chamber music, will perform an extensive repertoire. The Claremont Trio, which has successfully performed at Carnegie Hall and at the most prestigious music festivals in the United States, will close the festival with performances on Friday, August 22, and Saturday, August 23, at 7pm.. The trio is led by the twin sisters Emily and Julia Bruskin. Emily plays the violin and Julia, the cello. Both have extensive experience playing antique French instruments; Andrea Lam, playing the piano, completes the trio.
