Beginning a daily practice
By Frank Simons
The Meditation Center presents the Tricycle video retreat series by Brad Warner, Beginning a Daily Practice, Part 1, Thursday, August 14, at 5:30pm at the Center, callejón Blanco 4.
Great meditation teachers say that the most essential part of practice is to do it every single day. Most of us find that to be very difficult. There’s no secret: you just have to do it. But with our lives so full of busyness and stress, how can we get motivated to practice? This retreat will teach you how to sit even when you don’t want to or feel as if you don’t have time to. It’s not about finding the magic motivator. It’s about developing and sustaining the habit of practice.
Brad Warner is an American Sōtō Zen priest, author, blogger, documentarian and punk rock bass guitarist. He has written Hardcore Zen: Punk Rock, Monster Movies & the Truth About Reality (Wisdom Publications) and more recently, There Is No God and He Is Always With You: A Search for God in Odd Places (New World Publications). Presentations of the center are offered without charge. Donations are gratefully accepted.
