Centro Fox performed for benefit of La Biblioteca
By Sandra Ríos
Those who recently attended the benefit for La Biblioteca in San Francisco Church had the good fortune to hear an impressive concert presented by the Symphonic Orchestra of Centro Fox. Children and young people between seven and 18 years of age gave a masterful interpretation of classical and contemporary music. Master of Ceremonies, Noe Delaflor, acknowledged both the orchestra and all who attended to support this event. He then announced the program for the evening. Teacher Silvia Alba Roa, who conducted the orchestra, said in an interview that the music program of Centro Fox was created for the children in rural San Cristobal and other nearby communities in León.
The music school at Centro Fox currently has 195 students. Recently CONACULTA invited them to be part of the organization of youth orchestras in Mexico. This was the first time the children visited San Miguel de Allende. “Children dreamed of reaching San Miguel since they had never left their (own) community,” says Alba Roa.
Sandra Suaste, General Manager of La Biblioteca, also welcomed the audience and gave a plaque to Centro Fox in recognition of their participation, which enables La Biblioteca to continue to fund the free cultural and educational programs for San Miguel children.
