The Meditation Center of San Miguel is pleased to announce two special events taking place on July 5th and July 9th. The first of these will be an introductory class in Spanish on Zen meditation on Saturday, July 5th from 12-1:30pm. The class will cover the basics of sitting meditation, an overview of Buddhist meditation and practical ways to bring meditation into our everyday activities. The second class, on July 9th will be in English and will focus on the basics of sitting and walking meditation, the background of zen and instruction on zen chanting. The Wednesday class will be from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Both classes are open to beginning as well as experienced meditators and are free of charge. A discussion with questions will be after the talk.

The classes will be taught by Chris King, a Zen priest in the Soto Zen lineage of Suzuki-roshi, founder of the San Francisco Zen Center. Chris has been practicing Zen since 1976 and is a disciple of Jakusho Kwong-roshi of the Sonoma Mountain Zen Center in Northern California. Chris holds a second-degree black belt in Aikido and has a keen interest in the connection between Zen, movement and the martial arts. The classes will take place at the Meditation Center of San Miguel at Callejón Blanco 4, San Miguel. Presentations of the Center are offered without charge. Donations are gratefully accepted.
