Third time’s the charm?
By Joan DiPiero
Four of our wonderful SPA cats have the distinction of being so sought after, they have been adopted not just once, but twice. The problem is that none of these adoptions has resulted in forever homes and these cats are available once again.
Brynn, a one-year-old pretty black and white girl, went to a supposedly good home, but we found out that was not the case and she was rescued after a few weeks, skinny, dirty, covered in grease, and hiding under a piece of machinery. Her next adopter loved her, but Brynn was tearfully returned when her new owner became ill and needed to move out of town for medical treatment. Brynn is a feminine tranquil girl with a fetching beauty mark on her chin.
Poor Pumpkin was rejected by the dominant female cat in each of his two adoptive homes and returned to us, depressed and not understanding what went wrong. A handsome orange and white male a little under a year old, this charmer is full of confidence, playful and affectionate. He’s hoping that there will be no older alpha females in his future – at least the feline kind.
Martin was adopted by a nice family with a large friendly dog, but he was terrified, stopped eating, hid under the bed for days, and was returned. The next adopter had a teeny, tiny friendly dog, but, once again, Martin was terrified, stopped eating, hid under the bed for days, and was returned. Okay, okay, we get it – no dog allowed. A stunning charcoal gray and white four-and-a-half-year-old male, Martin loves sitting on laps, insisting on having his head forward just in case there is a need for a graceful exit.
Bianca was adopted by an SPA employee whose family loved her, but unfortunately, the neighbors’ chickens did not (for good reason). Adopted again, she was found abandoned months later, covered with wounds and considerably skinnier. This lovely two-year-old Siamese mix has recovered well and has retained her affectionate nature, still a serious lap cat, just waiting for the perfect lap. Of course, those of you with chickens need not apply.
