The theater group “El Caldero” (The Cauldron) presented three performances of the play Las vocales malditas (The Damned Vowels), written by Mexican author Oscar de la Borbolla and directed by Lilia Trápaga at Teatro Santa Ana. The five funny and irreverent stories were narrated fluently, yet with a certain degree of difficulty since the text is written with words formed by a single vowel. The play presented quite a challenge for both the playwright and the interpreters. This is a piece that makes us reflect with humor on ideas and schemes rooted in society and suggests alternatives to the viewer. The actors were Marcia Armenta, Paloma Defendini, Jesús Ibarra, Jose Luis Mendoza, Eduardo Mora, Edna Orenday, Victor Rivadeneyra, Francisca Salcedo and Etienne Sánchez.
