Book signing and celebration of Marion Perlet’s artwork at La Conexion
By Margaret Paul
“I am going to another world. I will wear my white robe that I bought in Egypt. I liked the desert and the temples and the mentality. It is the mystery. When I came to San Miguel I had the same powerful feeling. I am very lucky. This land is a blessing. I traveled a long way to get here.” (Marion Perlet from Conversations With Artists in San Miguel de Allende)
Book signing and celebration of Marion Perlet’s artwork
Thu, Jun 26, 4-8pm
Marion Perlet died last November, but she lives on in her artwork, which can be seen at La Conexion Gallery at Aldama 3. Marion’s life and work will be celebrated at La Conexion on Thursday, June 26, from 4-8pm and everyone is invited to share in a tribute to her talent and her generosity. Perlet entrusted her considerable art collection to the stewardship of Susan Sargent, owner of La Conexion, with the understanding that the proceeds of sales of her paintings would be divided among her three favorite charities, one of which is Patronato Pro Niños, a nonprofit organization that provides medical and dental care to low-income children in the municipality of San Miguel. Last year Pro Ninos helped nearly 4,000 children obtain medical and dental services. Next month, Patronato Pro Niños is going to be hosting a fundraising event, an auction of artworks at an evening gala called Mediterranean Magic at La Hacienda de San Miguel on July 18 at 6pm where a major painting by Marion Perlet will be offered for purchase. Look for details in Atención.
Perlet’s other charities include Alma, a home for the elderly, and Amigos de Animales, which isn’t surprising as Marion was very fond of animals and had taken in more than one street dog during her lifetime. Margaret Paul, author of Conversations With Artists, will be signing copies of her book and will read from her article about Marion Perlet. A number of surprise guests will add their words to the celebration. It promises to be a special evening.
