Repairs and improvements in Juárez Park
By Sandra Ríos
Edgar Bautista, head of the Urban Development Department, spoke about the improvements made in Parque Juárez, focused on safety, cleanliness, exercise and relaxation.
People who visit the park now will be able to enjoy the wonderful microclimate provided by this important green space of the city and sit on the 125 new benches they are placing around the park. “They will have a soft ocher color that will visually integrate into the space and will fit with its architecture,” said Bautista. “People will have the opportunity to rest after strolling around the park, sit and talk, or just read a book.” The current benches have deteriorated owing to lack of maintenance for more than 15 years. According to Bautista, they are also planning a warm lighting project that will allow more visibility, especially in darker areas, such as streams or alleys; in this way, people might safely stay after 8pm. Currently urban gyms are being installed in different sections within the circuit that people use for running or jogging. Some of the equipment being installed includes treadmills, stair climbers, elliptical machines and more. This last is ideal for people who have back problems, knee injuries or osteoporosis, because with this device you can do cardio without hurting yourself. This initiative was generated to create more athletic activity for adults and children and complement their other physical activities. Also, they will install trash cans with divisions for organic and inorganic trash around the park.
