Benefit for San Miguel International Symphony

By Antonio Cabrero

This benefit event also commemorates the first anniversary of the orchestra´s existence. Twelve magnificent concerts were offered in San Miguel, including composers for every taste possible, from Scarlatti and Rameau to Mozart and Beethoven to romantics like Saint-Saens and Tchaikovsky to nationalists like Grieg for Norway and De Falla for Spain.

The orchestra rendered masterfully difficult programs of impressionist French composers like Ravel and Debussy with Larissa Fedorova on the harp and an ensemble of fine principals and concertmasters from several symphonies in Mexico.

Most of those virtuosos are not Mexican, therefore the name International Symphony. However, if all goes well events like this will create a scholarship fund for Mexican young talents that will enable them to eventually have a debut with the orchestra.
