Audubon’s birdwalks are held on the third Sunday of the month, but the day after tomorrow, June 15,  is Día de los Locos. We are, therefore, canceling our June birdwalk so that everyone can enjoy the parade. Keep an eye out for our signature Vermilion Flycatcher among the mojigangas!

In July, our knowledgeable, enthusiastic guides will lead us on a walk to Peña Blanca, where on past July walks we’ve found nesting golden-fronted woodpeckers and parents of several species feeding their fledglings. Look for details in Atencion.

Our monthly birdwalks take us to five different sites in and around San Miguel, including El Charco del Ingenio, our beautiful botanical garden, and three sites along the Río Laja. To make sure that everyone is able to see and enjoy the birds, our birdwalk leaders carry telescopes for all to look through, and we can loan binoculars to those who need them.

Sociedad Audubon de México is the only Audubon chapter in the country and one of the oldest environmental groups in San Miguel de Allende. We advocate for the appreciation and protection of birds and the natural environment we share with them. Through education, conservation and recreation, we promote environmental stewardship to ensure quality of life for all living things in the San Miguel area.
