Raymundo Gonzáles is originally from Guadalajara, and he completed his studies in Cuernavaca where he currently lives. His work is essentially costumbrista. He paints beautiful watercolors and gouaches of charming scenes of everyday life in Mexico: buses full of colorful passengers, couples in a gazebo, tehuanas with fruit on their heads and bullfighting rings with adorned horses. Without a doubt, Raymundo’s work not only accomplishes its aesthetic objective but it also fills us with tenderness and appreciation for our wonderful country.
Though Theo Toy has been living in Mexico for many years, when we observe his work it is evident that he is of Italian origin. His ability to draw the human figure performing all sorts of movements in all sorts of contortions reminds us of the famous anatomic studies of DaVinci. Nevertheless, Theo’s recurrent theme of the relation between human figures and abstract energy is part of his personal signature. In addition to this theme, the extensive use of textures created by the inclusion of recycled paper and jute convert Theo’s work into something singular and exceptional.
