…And you think you have maid problems!
By Marthe Fraser
San Miguel Playreaders opens their season with a great, big bang June 11 and 12! Come join us prepared to laugh out loud as we present On A First Name Basis written by Norm Foster, Canada’s most prolific and funniest playwright.
This is the story of novelist David Kilbride and his housekeeper of 28 years, Lucy Hopperstaad. One night, over a bottle of wine, they have a conversation during which many surprises are revealed, including the fact that he doesn’t even know her first name.
The play aims to highlight differences in social class between the maid and her wealthy boss. Hopperstaad isn’t subtle about letting her narcissistic employer know the social and financial differences between them.
