If you feel like having a good cup of coffee with a book, a laptop or your four-legged best friend while being relaxed and comfortable (at a dog-friendly place), visit the Café de la Mancha, at Recreo 21. This café has warm and personal service, excellent coffee and tasty options, like home-made pizza or paninis. Open every day from 9am-8:30pm
Your visit to San Miguel won’t be complete until you visit the art and design center, Fábrica La Aurora. This place was originally a textile factory, reminders of which are still seen. Stroll around more than 40 galleries and shops and see a little bit of everything from painting, sculpture, décor, antiques and fashion. It’s located slightly outside centro, on Calzada de la Aurora s/n.
For a delicious lunch at a peaceful place, try the Grill and Garden at Los Senderos. Here you can have an exquisite country picnic, with a basket filled with gourmet and organic foods. Here the cooking is “environmental,” using products from their own land, like Portobello mushrooms, lavender, nopales, etc. An ideal to relax with your loved ones and enjoy the blue sky, this restaurant is open only on weekends, from Friday to Sundays, at 1pm. It’s located a few minutes away from town on the road to Dolores. Reservations are suggested: 15-59594.
Back in town, grab a drink at La Azotea (calle Umaran, near the Jardín). While living in San Miguel, to sit in the Jardín, enjoy the breeze and chat about the day is always an option. This is a good place to meet people. If the person at the next bench starts a conversation, follow it and you’ll have a new friend in town.
