Pathways of peace, Rome on the roof!

By Gregory Gunter

“All we are saying … is give peace a chance!” Participants in April’s Camino de la Paz event sang along with John & Yoko as they inaugurated the old Rinconada de la Aldea—the pedestrian-only pathway leading from La Aldea past LifePath Center to San Antonio–as the newest global location of the Peace Pole Initiative. In conjunction with that event, Rotary International sent their US-based peace coordinator to address that very issue to attendees at the Biblioteca.

We visited Rome on the roof above Andre Pascal’s styling salon in Centro for the Grand Opening of Café Roma, his newest venture, complete with an under-the-stars wood-fired pizza oven popping out slices to accompany the free-flowing vino tinto. And Mujeres en Cambio invited local authors—including your very own social columnist, thank you very much—for a public book-and-play reading fundraiser at Leslie Von Jaeger’s charming Centro home. May Peace Prevail on Earth … if there’s a good book and glass of vino to accompany it!
