Former White House Chief of Staff to kick off San Miguel Democrats Abroad 2014 campaign

Former White House Chief of Staff Jack Watson will speak at the 2014 Campaign Kick-Off Breakfast of San Miguel Democrats Abroad on Thursday, April 3, at Los Milagros Restaurant. The breakfast buffet will take place from 10am-noon. Everyone is welcome! All proceeds from this event will be used for the Democrats Abroad non-partisan effort to re-register all American voters in San Miguel and provide them with absentee ballot assistance. A law recently passed by the US Congress requires that all Americans living abroad re-register for every election.
Watson will speak on the issues facing voters this year and the prospects of Democratic candidates in 2014 and look forward to the Presidential Campaign of 2016.
Watson is a prominent Atlanta attorney. During the Administration of President Jimmy Carter, he served as Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs, White House Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Cabinet. In 1975 – 1976, he served as one of the National Finance Directors of the Carter Primary Presidential Campaign. Following Carter’s nomination as the Democratic Nominee for President,Watson chaired the Carter-Mondale Policy Planning Group and then, upon Carter’s election, he served as the Director of the Carter Transition Team during the transition of government from President Ford to President Carter. In 1980 – 1981, Jack Watson directed the transition of government from President Carter to President Reagan.
Jack Watson and his wife, Beth, have had a home in San Miguel for the last 10 years. They divide their time between San Miguel and Atlanta, Georgia.
