Luis Gasca performs in Cuba Fest

This year, Cuba Fest, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, has devoted two weeks of events in honor of Pérez Prado, “King of Mambo-Mr. Cherry Pink.” The photograph shows the trumpet player Luis Gasca, 20 years in the orchestra with Pérez Prado, whom he accompanied on his tour of Japan.Concert In honor of Pérez Prado Featuring Luis Gasca Sat, Mar 15, 7:30pm Teatro Ángela Peralta
Luis Gasca played on the soundtrack of the first film by Clint Eastwood’s as a director, Play Misty for Me, as well as on the soundtrack of the film directed by Richard Fleischer, Che (1969 ), starring Omar Sharif as Che Guevara and Jack Palance as Fidel Castro. The conductor was Lalo Schifrin (composer of the music of Mission Impossible).
Luis Gasca traveled to Milán, Italy, for two months, participating and writing music for the Italian film Puerto Escondido, director Gabriele Salvatores. We can also see him in the documentary Janis, the Way She Was (1974), a film on the life of Janis Joplin and her tour of Europe in 1969.
Luis Gasca, the featured artist, will be accompanied by the Cuban trio of Gabriel Hernández on Saturday March 15 at the Ángela Peralta Theater, San Miguel de Allende.
