There is no admission charge for the fair and anyone can be a volunteer, regardless of how long you’re in town.First annual Volunteer Fair Thu and Fri, Feb 20 and 21, 10am–4pm La Biblioteca Insurgentes 25
Currently, San Miguel has over 100 registered nonprofit organizations working in areas such as education, the environment, protection of animals, arts and culture, disability services, and healthcare. These nonprofit organizations, which change countless lives and create jobs for the local economy, benefit from and depend on many thousands of hours of volunteer support annually.
If you’re unable to attend the Volunteer Fair, please check out Volunteer San Miguel (VSMA) at www.volunteersanmiguel.com for more information about volunteering in San Miguel.
VSMA is a new service for the community being offered by La Biblioteca. It is an online tool with the goal of “leading, promoting and strengthening volunteerism in San Miguel de Allende.”
After conversations with many other nonprofits in town, La Biblioteca management identified a need in the community for an online resource that would connect eager volunteers with a database of local service opportunities.
Community members interested in volunteering locally can search Volunteer San Miguel for opportunities in various categories or by keyword; they can also browse all volunteer opportunities in San Miguel.
The site is not just a resource for seekers of volunteer positions; local nonprofits are getting in on the action by posting their volunteer needs on VSMA in the hopes of filling positions more quickly and with volunteers whose backgrounds and interests are parallel to that of their organization.
Interested nonprofits and community members can find out more information by visiting www.volunteersanmiguel.com or (for the Spanish-language version) www.voluntariosanmiguel.com.
Nonprofit organizations in town interested in learning how Volunteer San Miguel can be a resource to aid their organization in finding skilled volunteers, how to register their nonprofit and post listings, or how volunteers can search for opportunities within their organization can contact email@example.com.
