After just a few short years, San Miguel de Allende has become internationally recognized as an important venue for an international bridge tournament. The number of bridge-playing experts and celebrities who plan to participate continues to grow much to the appreciation of the city’s tourist office, the hotel association and the restaurateurs.

Last year, the city mayor Lic. Mauricio Trejo gave important recognition to the San Miguel Bridge Club with the head of tourism for the city, Mari Jose Garrido, donating prizes for the first classified winners.

Once again, bridge players worldwide are invited to the regional bridge tournament, which will take place in San Miguel from Tuesday, March 4 through Sunday 9.

Organized by the ACBL-American Contract Bridge League of Mexico City with the collaboration of San Miguel’s Bridge Studio, this event will be an outstanding opportunity for bridge aficionados to test their skills with both advanced amateurs and world-class professionals.

Originally, bridge events of this status were held yearly, either in Puerto Vallarta or at a spa near Mexico City, but thanks to the World Heritage recognition of San Miguel, its ever-growing must-visit destination for its beauty, its fabulous climate and its well deserved recently allocated Conde Nast Traveler’s Magazine first worldwide vacation choice, it has once again been chosen for this year’s venue.

Starting on March 4, games will be played at 10am, 3 and 8:30pm each day. Special hotel packages are offered by the Hotel Real de Minas: for reservations call (415) 152-2626 or We are expecting bridge players from throughout Mexico, Canada and the United States.
