The IMUVI (Municipal Housing Institute of San Miguel de Allende) is ready to accept applications from those interested in obtaining a loan ranging from 2,000 to 40,000 pesos in tokens for building materials to improve or add onto a home. This program is supported by the Housing Commission of the State of Guanajuato.
The loan amount will be set based on an individual analysis of each application. Applicants must supply a written request with a photograph and a photocopy of the birth certificate of the applicant and his or her spouse. If the applicant is a single parent, copies of birth certificates of the children are required. In addition, a photocopy of proof of ownership of the lot or property that credit is requested for, proof of income, proof of residence, ID, CURP and work budget (list of required materials and quantities) are also required. “We are promoting these loans in urban and rural areas to expand last year’s program, and applications are open to all stakeholders,” said Maria Elena Vazquez, director of IMUVI. With this program, those granted loans will pay a single interest rate in effect for the current year, 9 percent per annum, on the unpaid balance. The vouchers/coupons will be redeemable at building supply stores established as distribution centers duly accredited by the COVEG (Housing Commission of the State of Guanajuato).
