Volunteer San Miguel presents… The Volunteer Fair at La Biblioteca
By Katelin CannonVolunteer fair Thurs & Fri, Feb 20-21 10am-4pm La Biblioteca, Insurgentes 25
Why a Volunteer Fair?
Many people arrive in San Miguel wishing to volunteer, although they are not quite sure where to start looking for the volunteer opportunities. The volunteer fair will be a gathering of several of San Miguel’s most active nonprofits in one location. The fair will be a great place to learn about San Miguel nonprofits and available volunteer opportunities.
Who can make a difference in San Miguel?
Nonprofits in San Miguel have a need for any and all volunteer help! Even if you can only offer an hour a week or are in town short-term, you can help one of the over 100 local nonprofits make a difference!
What kinds of volunteer opportunities are there in San Miguel?
San Miguel has over 100 registered non-profit organizations working in areas such as education, the environment, protection of animals, arts & culture, disability services, and healthcare. These non-profit organizations, which change countless lives and create jobs for the local economy, benefit from and depend on many thousands of hours of volunteer support annually.
The predominate reason most people volunteer is because of the desire to help others or to make a difference in the community. Many people find that volunteering provides additional personal benefits. These benefits may include the wish to stay busy, a quest to learn a new skill, or perhaps the genuine motivation to share professional experience with a group. Whatever your reasons are for volunteering, you will be making an impact in someone else’s life.
Do I need any specific skills to volunteer? Do I need to speak Spanish?
No! You just need the honest desire to help and make a difference in your community. Generally training or supplies are provided for you. Of course there may be an occasion where an organizations’ volunteer opportunity may require a specific skill set.
How much does it cost to attend the Volunteer Fair?
