New 24-hour hotline specifically for abuse against women

To support and protect women and girls and help end violence against them the city has joined the system 075, a direct phone line specifically created to provide attention to women who suffer some sort of abuse, whether physical or psychological, domestic or related to school or work. The IMAM (Municipal Institute of Allende for Women) and the Department of Civic Protection informed the community about this new service on January 31. This new emergency 24-hour hotline is based in the city of Guanjuato. At the moment it is only available from public phones and home landlines, but by the end of February it should also be accessible with cell phones. The 075 phone line provides legal and psychological counseling, help in emergencies and advice on how to report abuse. Roxana Patlán, the director of the IMAMM, said: “Civic Protection, municipal police and we as an institution are working together to serve women who find themselves in trouble,” remarking that this line is exclusively for reporting violence against women. Felipe Cohen, coordinator of Civic Protection, explained that they will be checking the 075 line to support all the women who need it. “Gender equality is something that must be promoted,” he said.
