La Biblioteca announces Volunteer San Miguel, a resource for nonprofits and volunteers
By Katelin Cannon
La Biblioteca Publica de San Miguel de Allende announces a new service for the community called Volunteer San Miguel (VSMA), an online tool with the goal of “leading, promoting and strengthening volunteerism in San Miguel de Allende.”
After conversations with many other nonprofits in town, La Biblioteca management identified a need in the community for an online resource that would connect eager volunteers with a database of local service opportunities.
Community members interested in volunteering locally – whether part-time or full-time, short- or long-term – can search Volunteer San Miguel for opportunities in various categories. Animals, Arts & Culture, Child & Youth Services, Education, Environment, Fundraising, Health & Wellness, Immigration Services, Legal Services, and Web Development are just a few of the areas in which local nonprofits seek volunteers from the community.
The site is not just a resource for those seeking volunteer positions; local nonprofits are getting in on the action by posting their volunteer needs on VSMA, where they find that they are able to fill positions more quickly and with volunteers whose backgrounds, skill sets and interests are parallel to those of their organization.
Because Volunteer San Miguel is an organized database of the majority of volunteer opportunities in San Miguel – with pertinent information about the participating nonprofit – making the connection between volunteer and organization is easier and more effective than ever.
Interested nonprofits and community members can find out more information by visiting volunteersanmiguel.com or (for the Spanish-language version) voluntariosanmiguel.com.
The sites were designed with ease-of-use in mind, and posting and finding volunteer opportunities require just a few simple steps. Altruistic community members can search for volunteer opportunities by category, search keywords, or browse all positions. Nonprofits can register their organization and add a volunteer position with just a few clicks of a mouse.
Volunteer San Miguel operates entirely online and is not a volunteer center, but a resource connecting organizations and volunteers with the goal of promoting volunteerism in the community.
Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to explore the Volunteer San Miguel website to get a better understanding how VSMA may be a resource to aid their organization in finding skilled volunteers.
Should any nonprofits have questions on how to register their organizations or want to request additional information on the upcoming Volunteer Fair, they can either fill in the contact information sheet on the website with their questions or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
