According to official information, over 18,000 people filled the square to celebrate with friends and family, all bundled in their warmest clothes, and some accompanied with small decanters to help keep the body warm.
The heart of the city was utterly packed. You could find couples kissing, families embracing amid sparklers, glittering hats and flashing glasses. Entertainment was led by singer Laureano Brizuela, who accompanied everyone through the midnight moment, along with the band Encore playing everyone s favorite holiday music. Young and old, children and elders, Mexicans and visitors danced and laughed together, and kept dancing until 3am. As if they were the moral imperative of San Miguel, the fireworks burst into the sky of the cold night, raising everyone’s enthusiasm and hopes. According to astrologists, this is to be a year of deep transformation, but for sure the new year started happily and generously.
