Two new concerts with Salomón Maawad and friends
By Salomón Maawad
I arrived in San Miguel de Allende in 1979 and formed the jazz group “Los Downbeats,” being the first musician to do so in this genre. I have organized at least half of all of the most important jazz events in San Miguel since my arrival. I was one of the principal founders and supporters of the International Jazz Festival in San Miguel since its beginnings as director, organizer and musician for many years.
Two new concerts
With Salomón Maawad and friends
On January 8, I will present a concert with a series of my original compositions and arrangements with a very unique style that I give to modern contemporary jazz, full of rhythm and worthy of an audience of all ages with a sophisticated taste in music. My music could be played and listened to in any concert hall and festival in the world.
Group members: Salomon Maawad – saxophones; Gabriel Hernández – piano; Ken Baseman – guitar; Paco Servín – bari saxophone; Víctor Monterubio – drums; Gilberto Gonzales – bass.
January 9: This concert is a project of fusion between contemporary jazz and world percussion rhythms such as African, Arabic, Caribbean, Hindu, swing and blues. This ensemble consists of soprano, alto and tenor saxophones and electric bass. All of the music is a selection of my original compositions and arrangements taken from my own discography production that are notable for this project.
Group members: Salomon Maawad – saxophones; Dany Beltrán – electric bass; Víctor Monterubio – percussion; Sesan – electronics.
