A perfect day

On Saturdays, you shouldn’t miss the chance to get to the organic market. The market is located at the corner of Ancha de San Antonio and Cardo and takes place from 9am thru 2pm, offering the freshest high-quality products (locally harvested fruits and vegetables, bread, cheese, botanical beauty goods and food). If you’re looking for a place to get a healthy and tasty breakfast and enjoy a little sunshine and a perfect spot to make new friends, then come here and try some hand-made quesadillas or vegan tamales with café de olla.
Strolling through the street of Centro, you’ll see many stands with treats, but how can you tell the good ones? If you feel like having an excellent cone of sweet ice cream, try the one at the corner of Hernández Macias and Canal (just stepping out of the church). It is one of the oldest and most iconic ice cream stands in the city. Offering first-quality goods, it features a large assortment of flavors to please everyone, from traditional vanilla and chocolate to tropical fruits sorbets and a couple of more exotic ones like tequila or cheese.
For a meal that is a completely delicious experience (excellent food and beautiful setting) go to Mi Vida restaurant. The cuisine here is Italian-focused, with Mexican and international accents. The food is delicious and there is a plethora of options to please every palate. Salads and vegetables come from local farms (it can’t get fresher).
To get a great drink and feel like a local, la Sirena Gorda (Barranca 78) is a good place to end the day in style. The bar is old-style Mexican (that is to say a cantina). The atmosphere is super-agreeable, with good music, cocktails and a tapas menu which includes fish tacos, tostadas and other light dishes. And don’t worry- there is no chance of bar fights in this cantina.
