Gifts to be cherished

By Jade Arroyo

If you are curious and patient enough, strolling around the shops and galleries in town you can come across beautiful and perky creations to give to those special loved ones. This time we present you a small guide to a perfect day’s shopping, with a little something for everyone.

If you have elegant taste, pay a visit to the gorgeous store Sollano 16 (located at the same address, just a block away from the Parroquia) which features imported products from all over the world along with an exclusive collection of Mexican furnishings and one-of-a-kind accessories.

If you’re looking for something with a real Mexican — yet unique — flavor, pay a visit to Jade (at Cuadrante 22). This charming little store carries vintage Mexican textiles and other refashioned ones with modern trims and design. Also, there’s some interesting jewelry in silver and real stones which combine a contemporary style with traditional color and creativity.

A beautiful space not to be missed is Bendita Showroom, one of the coolest shops in town. This trendy place showcases only Mexican designers who work and craft entirely in the country: fashion 100 percent made in Mexico. For sure, you’ll feel super cool and proud rocking one of the dresses or shirts from Bendita in your next party or evening out.

Undoubtedly, Mixta is one of the favorite shopping venues in town. Its original and quirky blend of home décor, clothes, accessories, jewelry and hard-to-define-items from both Mexico and the rest of the world, make this a mandatory stop in your shopping day.

If you’re shopping for art, a great place to look around is Fábrica La Aurora. Among the over 40 galleries, ateliers and shops you will see a large selection of styles, medias and prices.
