New bus stops in the city
By Antonio De Jesús Aguado
In San Miguel, 72 new bus stops are under construction in the main accesses to the city. A company had been awarded a concession for the previous metallic structures, and the advertising space on them, but the removal of those structures will not bring legal problems for the local government, assured the legal coordinator, Alí Patlán, because an agreement had been reached with the company.
The construction of the new stops started in November. According to the director of Urban Development, Édgar Bautista, these constructions are more contemporary, with a base of stones, a metal roof and solar energy-powered lighting. They will be finished in the weeks to come.
Mayor Mauricio Trejo made it clear that his administration will not give the construction of the bus stops as a concession, as has been done in past, because they are being constructed with municipal and federal resources. They are being built to provide a better place for the users of the public transportation while they wait for the bus.
The new bus stops are being installed, although all the locations have not yet been defined.
