Descubre San Miguel
By Jade Arroyo
San Miguel de Allende is a place where creative energy and natural beauty mix with long history and character. Discover it!
To start the day on the right foot, try the delicious breakfast at Café La Parroquia (Jesús 11). Just one block from the church that gives it its name, this restaurant has a sunny beautiful patio. The house speciality? Everything.
Across the street you can rent an ATV for a journey through and around the city. Bicentenario Todo Tereno (Jesús 4) offers several options and packages to rent these vehicles and tour nearby places like Atotonilco, the old Indian Chapels, etc.
One of the reasons why San Miguel is so famous is because of its strong artistic community. A great place to go see art is the design center Fábrica La Aurora (Calzada de la Aurora s/n). This Center holds over 40 different galleries, studios and shops. You can see a wide spectrum of art: paintings, sculptures, photography, fashion, antiques, and much more. There’s also a cafe to take a break and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Open daily 10am-6pm.
How about ending the day at the cool and laid-back Bar Berlin? It is really comfortable without sacrificing style. Music and tapas are always good, and it’s easy to make friends by sitting at the bar to chat with the locals. Umaran 19.
