A bevy of brindles

By Megan Gabel

Brindle is beautiful! Brindle is a mixture of colors in a striped or swirled pattern. Brindles have a light base color, like gold or silver, and the striping is generally either black or chocolate. Brindle-patterned dogs come in many sizes, shapes, and breed types as exemplified by our SPA assortment.

Canela, a medium-sized cinnamon bundle of joy, about four years old, has a new habit. When a leash is put on her for a walk, she insists on some personal attention first. Sitting patiently, she waits until she receives what she deems sufficient petting and praises before she’s ready to go on her scavenger hunt (aka: a walk). Although she has a fierce look, she is anything but fierce – she’s gentle, sweet and affectionate.

Macy and Samantha, although unrelated, are a striking pair. Similar bodies (slim and small), their brindle patterns complement one another. These youngsters love playing and walking together. Macy, a little over a year old and fearful of street noises and strangers, needs the security of a buddy for a walk. Samantha, about 10 months old, shares quarters with Macy and is happy to be that buddy. They are both playful bundles of love and particularly enjoy racing around the SPA dog exercise area.

Just over a year old, medium-sized Scooby (Macy’s brother and friend) is a happy, friendly, handsome boy who enjoys attention. A little shy at first, give him a chance and he’ll become your best buddy! He likes playing, going for walks, and being petted.

Jessie is exuberant, affectionate, and lots of fun. A little over two and a half years old with a pretty, expressive face and penetrating eyes, she also has a calm side. She’s open to making new friends and seems to adjust easily to new situations.

Lucy, a sweetheart favorite of the volunteers, is a medium-sized girl, easy to walk and friendly to everyone. She loves to give and receive affection. Although she is a just over eight years young, you wouldn’t know it from watching her antics. She is full of life, happy, peppy and adorable.

Adopt one of our brindle beauties and not only will you gain a wonderful new friend, but an unusual looking one as well. Adoptions are 350 pesos, which includes vaccinations, deworming, and spaying/neutering. SPA adoption hours are Monday-Saturday, 11-2, Los Pinos 7, phone 152-6124.
