On Saturday, October 12, a call was received at the 066 emergency number reporting a robbery in progress at the Centro de Atención a Clientes Telcel (Telcel office) on Salida a Celaya. The main door was forced open and the windows were broken. When police arrived, the criminals (one from Yuriria, Guanajuato and one from Ciudad Juárez) tried to escape or hide on the roof but they were arrested.
On the morning of October 15 a man tried to steal several machines from a store in Villa de los Frailes, but he was apprehended by police. On the night of Sunday, October 20, in fraccionamiento El Paraíso, six men broke into the home of a Canadian woman, who was entertaining guests from California at the time.

The victim’s guests were taken to a private hospital because of injuries they sustained at the hands of the invaders. When police arrived, they found three men in a vehicle with several electronic items, which they could not prove they owned. Later, the criminals confessed that three other men were also involved. All of them were found and arrested. Later, the criminals were handed over to the Ministerio Público (District Attorney’s Office).
The victim filled out a criminal complaint in the Ministerio Público, where she received quality, bilingual attention, she said, adding that she is very grateful to the police department because of their fast action, as well as to the director of the department who visited her and offered his help. The victim remarked that she was not afraid of the robbers and did not let them scare her. She also commented that this could happen to anyone anywhere in the world.
A neighbor, a member of the security committee in El Paraíso, said that they are very impressed by the fast and effective work by the Public Security Department and also commented that they will hold several meetings in order to reinforce the security of the neighborhood by training their watchmen and installing panic buttons and lights with motion detectors.
