International Festival of Jazz and Blues in San Miguel
By María Dolores Rojas Vidargas
Once again San Miguel de Allende will host the International Festival of Jazz and Blues. This year, the traditional “Tribute to…” is dedicated to Paul Simon. The event will take place from November 13 to 17. On the first evening the concert will be at 7pm and the rest of the evenings at 8pm at the Teatro Ángela Peralta .
Among the innovations of the International Festival of Jazz and Blues there are two days of films, on November 13 and 14, at 1:30pm, at the Teatro Santa Ana at La Biblioteca.
The International Festival of Jazz and Blues is recognized as one of the largest in Latin America and the most important in Mexico, and this year they will be celebrating the 19th edition, thereby establishing itself as one of the longest-running annual events in San Miguel.
On this occasion the International Festival of Jazz and Blues will present a tribute to the Divas of Jazz with Ingrid Beaujean at the inaugural concert. On the second day, there will be a concert by Randy Bernsen and David Selley Blues Band, as well as one with Paul McCandless and Art Lande.
For the last two days of this year’s festival, on Saturday, November 16, the concert will be conducted by Dennis and Steve Guyger Gruenling Blues Band and on Sunday, November 17, the festival will close with a flourish, with the presentation of San Miguel Jazz Cats and guests for the big tribute to Paul Simon.
All concerts will be held at the Teatro Ángela Peralta and, as every year, the festival will hold an educational workshop aimed at members of the general public who have an interest in learning about music or the performance of a musical instrument. This workshop is free and will be held at the Teatro Santa Ana at 1:30pm.
The International Festival of Jazz and Blues is now selling tickets at the box office at the Teatro Angela Peralta. For more information write to http://www.sanmigueljazz.com.mx/.
