This time we present some suggestions of great places which are often missed by the traditional tourist, spots mainly attended by the locals. We invite you to visit them and live San Miguel like a true sanmiguelense.
The Café La Ventana is located at the very heart of the city, however it can be missed by a uninformed tourist. The Cafe offers delicious organic coffee Unión de La Selva from Chiapas and, honoring its name, this is a coffee shop which mostly delivers through a window to the street. A great place to have breakfast, featuring a smoking cup of coffee and a freshly made sandwich or a cookie; there are also options of caffeine-free beverages, like delicious artisanal chai tea.
To eat with a local flavor and get a little away from the Centro (but not in the countryside), try a full-course meal at Sabores y Salsas, a charming restaurant located at
Salida de Celaya 71ª. They offer yummy Mexican dishes with a twist and a daily special of three courses. Quite affordable, delicious food, and personal and warm service.
One of the coolest places enjoyed by locals is the bar Santos Crudoteca, located at the secret alley callejón de Los Suspiros. The place is contemporarily furnished with comfortable barber-style armchairs. The bar service is very complete and they offer a menu of fish tostadas and aguachile, chilpachole and other highly stimulating brews.
