Our October pets are just in time for Halloween!

By Lynn Weisberg and Joan DiPiero

To kids (and kids at heart), Halloween means ghosts, goblins and candy. Here at the SPA, we are ready for Halloween with two dogs aptly named for this particular holiday, Boo and Candy! Boo arrived in July at the tender age of three weeks. She is a darling puppy, black with a touch of white. Her favorite thing to do is give kisses. She is gentle, pretty, and has a great deal of patience with her puppy companions, all of them boys and all of which want her attention! We anticipate that she will be medium-large when fully grown. Boo is a great puppy for a family and, if she’s adopted this month, her name suits the occasion perfectly.

Candy is a medium-sized five-year-old mixed breed, whose personality matches her name. She is sweet! She has a bit of pit bull mixed in there with the best part of the breed – friendly and warm-hearted. She loves to play and is smart as a whip. She would be a great protector because she can look fierce when barking, but really? She’s a love! It would be a real treat, not a trick, for the person who adopts Candy, and no calories involved, either.

Sasha and Liza, both personable young females, are our featured cats. Sasha comes ready-made for Halloween with an adorable natural mask-like face. She was discovered by the SPA front door in a box with her five siblings. About seven weeks old, none of the litter exhibited any signs of stress, and quickly settled into life in Kitten World. All have now been adopted except for Sasha and we are puzzled why she hasn’t been as fortunate. Now ten months old, she is both playful and affectionate, with dramatic calico markings and big soulful eyes.

Liza was brought to us after being found wandering in the street for several days, obviously lost or homeless. She is about six months old, a gray and white tabby with a lovely expressive face. She is always the first in line to play, and loves to leap in the air to grab toys. When she is finally weary of playing, she loves nothing better than naptime on an available lap.

Adopt any of these Pets of the Month during October (350 pesos) and receive a free adoption kit. You can preview all our animals at and Happy Halloween!
