September is the month of the will
By Antonio De Jesús Aguado
As most people know, a last will and testament is a document that sets forth who will inherit property and money upon one’s death. In September, the cost of having a will made in San Miguel will be discounted to 1,600 pesos.
The Month of the Will program was started by the federal government and the states in 2003 to promote the importance of having a will to avoid legal problems among members of the family. This year, during the presentation of the campaign in Guanajuato, the governor, Miguel Márquez, said that this service is targeted toward those least able to pay for a will. The goal this year is to have 9,000 wills written, 2,400 more than in 2012.
Jorge García García, leader of the nine notarios in San Miguel, commented that during this month the working hours of the notaries will be extended if someone needs the service. He made it clear that the price of 1,600 pesos is just to set up a simple will without legacies. The campaign ends September 30.
Those interested in doing their last will can be helped by some of the most renowned notaries in the city, such as: Jorge García García, at the corner of Hidalgo and Insurgentes, 152-0249; Óscar Arroyo Delgado on Boulevard de la Conspiración 11, 152-6333 or Leopoldo Rubio Salinas at Canal 134, 152-0543
