Passion for horses in San Miguel
By Jade Arroyo
Last weekend an equestrian competition, the Otomí Grand Prix, was held in San Miguel for the second time. Featuring 16 different categories of competition, the participants of all ages competed for cash prizes, two cars, two motorcycles and several gift certificates from restaurants and establishments.
On September 7 Atención attended the Six Bars jumping competition, also known as Big Bola/Liberty Cup, where the horses had to jump over six fences of different heights, each one higher than the previous one. In every round the bars were raised higher until only one rider remained.
Governor Miguel Márquez, Tourism Secretary Fernando Olivera, and the local mayor, Mauricio Trejo, all were on hand at the event, which is held in conjunction with the Mexican Equestrian Federation (FEM). Lovers of this sport from all over Mexico gathered here to enjoy the event.
The Otomí Grand Prix was held at the equestrian center at the Otomí complex, located a few minutes away from Centro in the area known as San Miguel Viejo.
