Treat yourself today!

By Jade Arroyo

For many San Miguel is a destination for relaxation and fun. The city offers delightful meals, treatments to pamper yourself and views to nourish the eyes and soul.

Try breakfast at Posada Corazón (Aldama 9), available from 8:30am to noon. This inspiring, peaceful eatery has one of the most beautiful gardens in the historic center. Most of the food offered is homemade: yogurt, bread, marmalade and other goodies. If you feel like it, you can stay and have a sauna.

At Sense spa, you can pamper yourself in style. Sense is inside the Rosewood Hotel, located at Nemesio Diez 11. They offer outstanding treatments based on traditional natural Mexican ingredients such as chocolate and mole. The novelty is a treatment based on wine, called “Diamond Single Grape.”

After your spa treatment, grab a bite at The Restaurant (Sollano 16), located just a few steps from the Jardín. The contemporary and sleek restaurant serves up food defined as “global comfort food” with a modern twist. Afterward, step into the store at Sollano 16, where you might find an indulgence that you just “have to have.”

Some of the most attractive natural features of San Miguel are the hot springs, a perfect cure for stress and fatigue. Don’t forget the sunscreen if you go to get a tan. There are several of these retreats located on the road to Dolores. To get there, you can take a taxi for about 100 pesos. La Gruta might be a nice choice; it has several different pools: a large one for swimming, a warm pool featuring a grotto and waterfall, and small pools for children. Once you try them, it’s very easy to get addicted to them.
