This week, we present some interesting and lively spots in San Miguel where you can have fun, exercise and relax. Explore them and fill yourself with energy!
To fill your lungs with fresh air, go for a morning walk across Parque Juarez. During morning hours, this is a privileged spot due to its freshness and pleasant breeze. This park is laid out in the French style, dating from the beginning of the 20th century — a jewel in itself.
Take yourself to the ruins at La Cañada de la Virgen. There are several businesses in town that can get you there, and you can pick the way you want to go: bike, horseback ride, walk. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and sun protection. These pyramids have been open to the public since the National Institute of Anthropology and History restored them. Here you can feel all the strength of history, of the ancestors; experience the power and simple greatness of nature.
Among many other things, San Miguel is well known for its warm springs, most of which can be found on the road to Dolores Hidalgo. These warm springs, from slightly warm to piping hot, come from the north and west. Besides being an excellent way to relax, these waters are famous for their healing properties. A nice option could be La Gruta, because the atmosphere is more relaxed. Tip: To get there, a taxi can pick you up and take you for 300 pesos.
Feeling hungry after running around so much? Try Café Contento (Hernández Macias 72) for breakfast or lunch. The place defines itself as a “Mexican bistro,” serving modern and simple cuisine in a casual yet sophisticated ambiance. An important part of San Miguel is the fact that here you can enjoy local products while supporting the economy and taste all the freshness and high-quality of the food.
