Guadaluparte take two
By Jade Arroyo
On July 5, the second edition of the Guadaluparte show took place, an urban art initiative in Colonia Guadalupe. The area was inaugurated as an art district in April with the unveiling of several outdoor murals.
One of the goals of the creation of this art district is to promote a new showcase for a more urban and experimental artistic expression.
Bringing art into the street gives Guadaluparte much of its character, breaking free from the confines of the museum or gallery and showing the public that San Miguel is much more than just its historic center.
This second Guadaluparte was a collective exhibition of contemporary and alternative art, including video art, audiovisual poetry, live performances, photography, sculpture and painting.
Art lovers came together on calle María Félix and the surrounding streets, defying the uncertain gray weather that day.
