Compañía Allende turns 15

By Cristina Salazar

From July 8 through 12, the Allende Company of Folkloric Dance will celebrate its 15th anniversary with performances full of color and movement featuring dancers from folkloric ballets based in Chihuahua, Nuevo León, Chiapas and Guanajuato.

The Allende Company was founded on June 6, 1998, by its current director, Professor Rubén Juárez López, who decided to begin a group to offer young sanmiguelenses new means of artistic expressions.

Presentations by this group, which differs from some others in that the dancers are professionally trained, range from folkloric dance to jazz, tango and waltzes from many countries.  The company dances to the rhythm of states such as Coahuila, Guanajuato, Baja California, Chiapas, Jalisco and Colima, among others.

Check the program of presentations in Qué Pasa.
