Aha! Kitten Mystery Solved!

By Joan DiPiero

The last few weeks we’ve had dozens of kittens showing up at the SPA, not unusual for this time of year, but the numbers were so concentrated in a one-month period, I was puzzled. Then I glanced at a back copy of the local newspaper and had an Aha! moment.

Here it is for your perusal:

“Pussycat police blotter–late Spring 2013– a summary of incidents dealt with by the Feline Authorities”

Indecent exposure – nude sunbathing in a public park…7

Disturbing the peace – loud caterwauling after daylight hours … 19

Lewd and lascivious behavior – flashing at the Jardín … 1

Loitering – disturbing customers at the OXXO … 14

Walking under the influence … 9

Ticket scalping (Annual Howling at the Moon Midnight Madness Event) … 4

Possession of illegal substance (Columbian Catnip) … 73

Breaking and entering (Private residence Hot Tub) … 137 **

**The authorities issued an apology to the partygoers. Without a permit on record, they did not realize the patrol bust was interfering with the well-coordinated effort to break the Guinness World Record for “Most cats fitting in a hot tub at one time” (previous record 131). If the Guinness people are willing to return, they will have the full cooperation of the authorities. For safety reasons, medical personnel will be on hand to handle dehydration, overheating, aqua phobia, and scaredy-cat syndrome.

Soooo, a couple of months later, we are deluged with kittens. Coincidence? I think not. No doubt this wanton behavior has unleashed raging hormones.

Please visit the unintended consequences of the above behavior, or, as we like to call them, the cutest kittens ever! SPA visiting hours are Monday-Saturday, 11-2, Los Pinos 7, 152-6124. Here are some photos to entice you. Felix, black and named after you-know-who, is a sweet boy, mellow and laid-back. His brother, Fergus, orange and white, is a happy little guy, always in motion. Josefina (ahhhh!), a little tabby with cinnamon is just as sweet as her photo. Andrea, very affectionate, looks more like a silver fox than a tabby. Monet, a handsome orange and white boy, is a whirlwind of activity, running, chasing everything in sight. Polar, a white loving and playful boy has the most distinctive green eyes, a very unusual combo.
