Susan Sargeant has been singing “Hello Dali,” at The Gallery on Aldama 3. “You’re lookin’ swell Dali. It’s so nice to have you back where you belong?” Sargeant feels that Dali belongs in her gallery where she sings to him every day.
Marion Perlet says, Hello Dali!
Paintings by Marion Perlet: “New Work”
Prints by Salvador Dali
Fri, Jun 7, 7-9pm
Earlier in 2013, The Gallery was given a commission of four Salvador Dali plates. As First Friday in May approached, the featured artist, Marion Perlet, decided to say hello to Dali, as The Gallery displayed the Dali plates along with Perlet’s show, “The Cat’s Meow.”
As Sargeant prepared for the opening, she had a brainstorm. “I decided to put an invitation on Facebook, to see if there were any more Dali collectors in the area who might be interested in displaying their pieces,” says Sargeant. “Imagine my surprise when I got requests to exhibit 27 more Dali prints, all authenticated by Park West Galleries, Southfield, Michigan!”
Then the proverbial other shoe dropped. “I find out that Park West Galleries, the authenticators, are in fraud lawsuits up to their knees,” says Sargeant. “I do understand how an artist of Dali’s magnitude could cause such a commotion. In any case, authentic or not, I am so pleased to be involved with Dali’s art. I love his art.”
To see a collection of Dali works this diverse, one would have to travel to the United States or Europe. This is a chance for the public to view this exhibition, right here in San Miguel de Allende. Come enjoy Marion Perlet’s “New Work”, and say “Hello Dali!” yourself.
The reception will be June 7, 7-9pm at The Gallery, Aldama 3.
